Election Announcement
Subject: Announcement of <year> Board of Directors Election Who can vote? ------------- To be able to vote, you need to be a member of the GNOME Foundation and your membership needs to be valid at least until the end of the elections. For example, a member whose membership ends on <date> won't be able to vote for the elections. A notification e-mail for those member hip had been expired will be sent before renewal deadline. If you're not a member of the GNOME Foundation or if you need to renew your membership, you have to apply at http://foundation.gnome.org/membership/application.php before <date>. If you have applied before this date and if you are accepted, then you will be able to vote for this election. Being a candidate ----------------- If you are a member of the GNOME Foundation and are interested in running for election, you may nominate yourself by sending an e-mail to foundation-announce@gnome.org with your name, e-mail address, corporate affiliation (if any), and a description of why you'd like to serve before <date> (23:59 UTC). You should also send a summary of your candidacy announcement (75 words or less) to elections@gnome.org. If you are not yet a GNOME Foundation member and would like to stand for election, you must first apply for membership and be accepted to be eligible to run. (You may, however, announce your candidacy prior to formal acceptance of your application; should your application not be accepted, you will not be included in the list of candidates.) Number of directors to be elected --------------------------------- The number of directors to be elected will be seven. You can vote for seven candidates, or less at your option. Your vote should be received by <date>, 23:59 UTC. This is your ballot for voting in the election for the GNOME Foundation Board of Directors. About the election ================== As a reminder, more information about the candidates can be found at this URL: http://foundation.gnome.org/elections/<year>/candidates.html Information about the GNOME Foundation is here: http://foundation.gnome.org/ Also, general discussion of the candidates can be found in the 2007 November (and possibly December) archives for foundation-list at: http://mail.gnome.org/archives/foundation-list/ Please take the time to learn about the candidates and their expected tasks and aspirations as members of the GNOME Foundation Board. Voting instructions =================== Please read all the instructions before proceeding to the vote. You may vote for up to 7 different candidates. The 7 candidates with the most votes will become the new board, subject to a maximum of two board members with the same company affiliation. Please note that you will not be able to change your vote, and you will not receive a confirmation for your vote by e-mail. Please keep the anonymous token given to you in step 4 because you will not be able to retrieve it later. At the end of the voting period, anonymized votes will be posted publicly for verification. At that time, please verify that your vote was received and counted and alert elections@gnome.org if it was not. Concerns or questions about the voting process should be sent to elections@gnome.org.
