glade3 Roadmap

What are your plans for GNOME 2.26 (next 4 months, before feature and UI freezes)?

We have a bunch of features that have piled up over the last release cycle in which we were unable to make a stable release out of our work.

For 2.26 we plan to give you a fully featured libglade & GtkBuilder compatible tool that offers smooth undoable conversions in both directions, allows you to select your project target toolkit versions and warns you about use of properties and signals that dont yet exist, or use of deprecated widgets.

The rest will be in the release notes.

What are your plans for GNOME 2.28 (next year)?

I plan to completely split the UI frontend out of the libgladeui core in a way that the gtk+ dependency is removed, and then rewrite all the editor widgets UI layout using GtkBuilder, and provide the builder files and highlevel editor code probably along with the gtk+ plugin.

Do you have plans for a future release?

...

Do you have any goals from 2.24 that were not achieved? Why?

Sure, we didnt release anything, simply because GtkBuilder was ready, and I had to writeup all the support, which left no time for anything else.

Is there something that is really missing in our infrastructure or platform that would help you?

Well, it would help if gtk+ were to allow us to embed GtkWindows as children in the workspace without the hack we have in place.

Do you have plans to work on other modules not maintained by you? What are they?

Im around to help with builder ofcourse

Do you have any GNOME-wide goals suggestions for the next releases?

Yes, somebody start writing awesome plugins ! I'll even let you write your whole frontend, dont we need fancy editors for fancy canvas widgets ? ... and just about any buildable gobject you can imagine ?
