GNOME Journal Announcement Guide

These are the basic steps to spread the word about new GJ issues.

  1. Write an announcement message and get approval/comments from the GNOME Journal mailing list (See this one)

  2. Send announcement to the following mailing lists:
    • gnome-announce-list
    • marketing-list
    • gnome-journal
    • freedesktop-promotion
  3. Blog about the new GJ issue and spread the word on planets!
  4. Use the GNOME Journal identi.ca microblogging account, which gets syndicated to Twitter

  5. Add GJ banner at gnome.org front page
  6. Submit the announcement to:
  7. Submit an introduction to each article to:
    • digg.com (We have a special GNOME Journal account for this!)

    • NewsForge

    • LXer (Wait some days between submission. They usually pick our stories althougth it may take a day or two.)

    • LinuxToday (Wait some days between submission. They sometimes ignore our submissions. Seems to be due to the general amount of news.)

  8. Don't submit to:
    • del.icio.us (We're already bookmarked by many people, and the single stories will get submitted when they are useful - del.icio.us is not a news site.)
