Meeting on February 20th
Attendees
- Allan Day
- Nuritzi Sanchez
- Marina Zhurakhinskaya
- Ben Berg
Agenda:
Decide on a plan for the photography policy
- Review existing examples
- Review legal research
Review draft CoC with regards to structure
- Any missing pieces?
- Any sections too long/short?
- Is the overall organisation OK?
Notes:
Photo Policy
Review of previous meeting: everyone agrees that the notes capture what was previously discussed (https://wiki.gnome.org/Diversity/CoCWorkingGroup/Private/CoCPlan#Photography_policy_.5Bneeds_agreement.5D)
- We might want to add the Photo Policy as a separate section right above the contact info
- We should start drafting the Photo Policy and then decide where to add it within the document. We don't want the CoC to be too long, but we think the Photo Policy should probably be in the main CoC
Code of Conduct Draft
Discussion of Code of Conduct draft: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1We_Z3T02AqdStFOznK2JyfV8xA3FyeNvHiThxbyopUA/edit#
- Allan: Should we change the title of the "Enforcement" section or the "Expectations" section? May sound too authoritarian. Do we need the "Enforcement" title?
- General agreement: Yes, we should keep the "Enforcement" section, but may want to change it to something like "Incident Reporting" or something. Not a strong opinion.
- We should add local contact info to the main CoC
- We should make the "If you need help" section more inclusive so that people feel comfortable seeking help for more minor issues
- We should add something to help it seem like it can be for minor incidents too, not just big harrassment issues. See GUADEC 2016 for potential ideas/language
NOTE: We will not focus on enforcement guidelines for now. We will focus on the rest first.
Action items:
Minor incidents. We should have a separate agenda item on how we can make it easier for people to report minor incidents. We might consider adding some bullet points about how people should try not to take things personally.
Prepare another draft. We should start drafting: reporting guidelines & photo policy. @Nuritzi & Rosanna to commit to this by Wednesday, or else recruit others to help out this weekend
