GnomeGames Roadmap

Maintainers:

What were your plans for GNOME 2.24?

Aisleriot:

  • Theming: backgrounds [#145238] and card localisation [#471659]
  • Game layout improvements, like adapting to smaller screen size by changing the layout [incl. #394739]
  • Implement keyboard dealing for all games [#445955]
  • Misc game improvements [e.g. #409779]

Chess:

  • Look at making use of libgames-support for our Python games to reduce the amount of code to maintain
  • Split the GGZ GUI code out of glChess and make a stand alone "Gnome Play" application. This would be more like the ggz-gtk client in that the user would only log in once (currently it is confusing why users can't play two games at once). Use lots of stuff like d-bus to make it "just work". I'm waiting until I have a proof of concept before blogging and writing here about it to get everyones opinion (with my current development rate it would be vapourware otherwise!).

Gnometris:

  • fix performance bug on new theme
  • add graphic indication of rotation point and direction

Robots:

  • make robots resizeable/translateable

Sudoku:

  • For 2.24 , it would be great to give some love to the puzzle generation itself. Right now, generation of hard and very hard puzzles is quite slow, it would be nice to try to craft some algorithms to speed this up, since lots of players like hard and very hard puzzles. The difficulty rater could also be improved or reexamined. One possibility it to use other, existing programs for sudoku generation if they can do the job better (which they likely can) and move the focus of GNOME Sudoku to the GUI itself.
  • it would also be nice to get hand-edited puzzles turned back on for the next version so that users can type in puzzles they've seen in a newspaper or what not. And finally, import/export is a possibility.

General:

  • Online highscores, see: #509690

What are your plans for GNOME 2.26 (next 4 months, before feature and UI freezes)?

Aisleriot:

  • Stabilize clutter rendering engine; make it default
  • Theming: backgrounds [#145238] and card localisation [#471659]
  • Game layout improvements, like adapting to smaller screen size by changing the layout [incl. #394739]
  • Implement keyboard dealing for all games [#445955]
  • Misc game improvements [e.g. #409779]

Gnometris:

  • Stabilize clutter rendering engine; make it default

What are your plans for GNOME 2.28?

  • Expand use of clutter

Do you have any goals from 2.24 that were not achieved? Why?

TBD

Is there something that is really missing in our infrastructure or platform that would help you?

  • git

Do you have plans to work on other modules not maintained by you? What are they?

Do you have any GNOME-wide goals suggestions for the next releases?

Do you have any cool ideas for GNOME 3? What are they (both GNOME-wide and about your module)?
