What does GUADEC stand for?

Previously, GUADEC stood for GNOME Users And Developers European Conference. However, in 2019 the Foundation expanded the scope of GUADEC to make it easier for people from different areas around the world to attend and to help kick-start local participation in the GNOME project.

It has been suggested that the E stands for “Everywhere,” or that—like GNOME itself—GUADEC should no longer be treated as an acronym.

What happens at GUADEC?

Presentations are given by software developers, business leaders and users who are involved in Open Source, Free Software and of course, GNOME. These combine with many practical sessions and discussion groups which set the direction of the GNOME project. It also aims to attract new developers and contributors, as well has serve as a meeting point for corporate interests and allow us to showcase some of the latest technologies.
