Welcome to GNOME 3.30 Release Parties!
Contents
GNOME 3.30 was officially released on September 5, 2018. This wiki page is meant to help GNOME friends from different corners of the world plan their celebrations.
Why?
- To celebrate GNOME 3.30
- To promote the GNOME 3.30 release and let everybody know about GNOME and its benefits
- To create talking points and attract local / international press to talk about GNOME
- To build awareness of GNOME in general
Post pictures to social media. Use hashtags #GNOMEParty and #GNOMERelease
Learn how to submit your photos so we can share them among the community. We may even use them for things like our website, annual report, and other important publications that help GNOME thrive.
Who?
Anybody can hold a GNOME 3.30 launch party, including user groups, FOSS communities, distro communities, universities, NGOs and companies.
Note: If you want to join an existing party it might be nice to contact the organizers by email so they know how many people to expect.
When?
GNOME 3.30 was released on September 5 of 2018 and around then is an ideal time to host a release party. We recommend having it within about 2 weeks of the actual release day.
Reimbursements
There is limited funding available to help our community organize local release parties. If you are interested in this reimbursement option, please contact Nuritzi at nuritzi AT gnome DOT org to request a budget before you plan your event.
In addition, please make sure that you meet these requirements:
- You can be reimbursed up to $50 USD (limited to the first 10 groups to request it)
- May be used to help with:
- snacks
- activities
- drinks
- You must send scans of receipts
- You must take pictures of your event and post to social media or a blog to help us spread the word (please send a link to the post when you request reimbursement)
You must have a TransferWise or PayPal account. Unfortunately, transaction fees and international rates will apply so total reimbursed may be a bit less than what you request once you get it in your account. For more information on how to be reimbursed, please read the reimbursement guidelines carefully.
Locations
Please add your information below for confirmed parties and help to spread the word to everybody you know!
If you would like to list your release party, but do not have access to the wiki, please send the information to engagement-list (at) gnome (dot) org to have it posted for you.
