Meeting notes

  • Review Action Items
    • A reminder to Karen and Simon to complete their interview so that our media sponsor, Linux Pilot, can publish the GNOME.Asia Summit 2013 article.
    • DarkCircle already aggregated data from survey paper. Sakanna would proceed to complete the report.

  • Discussion on Co-location of Conferences
    • Advantages
      • Partners could make use of resource each other.
      • Better Publicity, Generate more Interest
      • Easier to get people to attend if there would be several conferences
    • Risks
      • The co-ordination effort could be huge.
      • The focus on GNOME would change depend the co-organize partner, we must find out how to balance the session and the quality.
      • Sponsors might be confused.
    • Methods Suggested to Minimise the Risks
      • Different partners ran their own conferences in locations very close together.
      • Different conferences ran in consecutive days.
    • The discussion will continue when we receive a proposal with a co-location programme.
  • When will we meet next?
    • We will meet next weeks on Tuesday, 27 Aug,2013 at 14:30 UTC in #asia-summit

Action items

  • Ask everyone to update the spreadsheet on slide and blog and Haggen will review it in the next meeting.
  • When the item on shortening the GNOME User video was brought up, there was a discussion on whether and/or how we should produce a 30 second trailer for promotion. The discussion of this trailer would be continued on the mailing list.
  • Sakana will complete the Press Release.
  • Haggen will circulate the updated draft Call for Host.
  • Announce the Call for Host on 1 Aug. 1 Sep is deadline of submission. The announcement of the winning bid is on the 3rd week of Sep.
