Future User Days will also be announced on Planet GNOME as well as the GNOME Identica and Twitter feeds.
GNOME 3 User Days are a great opportunity for users to find out about GNOME 3 and to talk to members of the GNOME project about the new release. Everyone is welcome to get involved and ask questions about GNOME 3.

How to participate
To take part in the GNOME 3 user day, all you need to do is connect to the #gnome IRC channel on irc.gnome.org. GNOME project members will be on the channel, ready to chat and take questions.
There are two ways to connect:
Web chat
The Mibbit web-site provides a quick and easy way to connect to the #gnome IRC channel.
Click on this link to the channel.
- Enter a name for how you want to identify yourself in the 'Nick' box (keep the name short and simple), then click the 'Go' button.
- Click on the tab which is labelled '#gnome'.
Desktop application
You can chat to members of the GNOME project using an instant messaging application, such as Empathy or Pidgin. If you have difficulties with this option, you are recommended to try the Mibbit option (described above).
Empathy
- Start the application.
- Select Accounts from the Edit menu.
- Press the 'Add...' button.
For the protocol, select IRC. Then select the GimpNet channel. Enter a user name (short and simple is best!) You do not ned to provide a password or quit message. Then press 'Apply'.
- Wait a few seconds to let the program connect. If there are any problems, it will tell you.
To connect to the #gnome channel, select 'Join...' from the Room menu. For the account, select '<your user name> on GimpNet' and enter '#gnome' as the Room. Then press the 'Join' button.
Pidgin
- Start the application.
- Select 'Manage Accounts' from the Accounts menu.
- Press the 'Add...' button.
- Select IRC as the protocol, enter a user name of your choice (this is how you will be identified in the chat), and enter 'irc.gnome.org' in the server box. Then press 'Add'.
- From the Buddies menu, select 'Join a Chat...'. Select the account that you just created and enter '#gnome' in the channel box. Then press 'Join'.
