Seahorse Roadmap

Maintainers: Nate Nielsen and Adam Schreiber

What are your plans for GNOME 2.20 (next 4 months, before feature and UI freezes)?

  • Complete implementation of missing gnome-keyring-manager features
    • Change master password
  • Evolution integration
    • Pinar's SoC Project to make evolution use libcryptui widgets and DBus function calls
    • e-d-s integration, auto-contact creation, photo ID synchronization
  • Themable Application Specific Icons

What are your plans for GNOME 2.22 (next year)?

  • Possibly a Pidgin/Telepathy(Gossip, etc) encryption plugin
  • Digitally signed documents in Evince

Do you have plans for a future release?

  • Not as of yet

Do you have any goals from 2.18 that were not achieved? Why?

  • X.509 certificate management, lack of infrastructure that's being corrected in RoadMap/GnomeKeyring

Is there something that is really missing in our infrastructure or platform that would help you?

A curtain widget similar to what [Gedit] has for their error messages that inherits from GtkBin or GtkContainer as discussed on 1] 2].

Do you have plans to work on other modules not maintained by you? What are they?

  • Possibly some e-d-s related items
  • Print Dialog annoyances
  • GNOME Keyring as needed

Do you have any GNOME-wide goals suggestions for the next releases?

  • Develop a freedesktop.org standard for data providers for indexers like tracker and beagle. This would bracket the indexers with standards to work within and users could change indexers based on their needs and not lose data sources that haven't written backends for each.
  • Pick an instant messenger client and cut out the pidgin/collago/gossip/empathy confusion. Use these and Galago to properly handle presence information/integration.
