Relevant GNOME team

GNOME Foundation Board, officers and Foundation employees

Description

The GNOME Foundation Board (and the full-time Foundation employees) typically only have one chance to meet in-person during the year, at GUADEC. A lot of work gets done during those in-person meetings, but that's not enough to push some of the initiatives that the team wants to put in motion around funding, committees and budgets.

This hackfest will bring the team together for a three-day deep dive to begin the new financial year.

Agenda, goals

  • Financial and spending policies for 2017-2018 budget
  • Delegation of responsibilities to new committees
  • 2017-2018 strategic initiatives
  • Work on ongoing items

Not able to attend

Public transport

Berlin has very decent public transportation system. You can get to most places easily with underground, trams and buses. Unless you are going to use the Schönefeld airport, most likely you'll only remain in the A and B transport zones so when you buy a ticket, get an "AB" one.

You need to validate your ticket before use. There are yellow machines where you can do that. On trains (underground or overground), you must do it on the platform *before* getting into your ride. On buses and trams, you do it inside. You need to only validate your ticket once, unless it's a multiple-ride ticket. A time-based ticket doesn't need to be validated.

GNOME Beers on Saturday

Come grab beers with us!

As of now, we think we'll do the event at C-Base, one of the first hackerspaces in the world. We'll buy some pizzas and soft drinks, and there will be beers available for purchase. Even if you don't drink beer, please come!

  • When: Saturday, October 7th from 8 pm - 11 pm
  • Where: C-Base, Rungestraße 20, 10179 Berlin, Germany (We are trying to secure a "no smoking" room so that everyone can attend)

We'll update people via the GNOME Telegram group and also #Engagement on IRC / Matrix closer to the event, so stay tuned.

RSVP your interest: Please help us plan by adding your name to the list if you're thinking of joining. That way, we can order a good amount of pizza. RSVP here: https://etherpad.gnome.org/p/gnome_beers_in_berlin_2017
