Developer Experience Hackfest, 2014
Endocode, Berlin, Germany: April 30 - May 2
Primary contacts: AllanDay & AlbertoRuiz
Description
Following on from the extremely successful 2013 Developer Experience Hackfest, this event aims to keep up the momentum with the GNOME application developer experience. We'll be revisiting the work we did at last year's event, reviewing our progress since then and planning next steps.
Goals
As with last year's event, all aspects of the GNOME application developer experience are in scope, including:
- GTK+ - roadmap for the toolkit, discussion on what new features are required and a timetable for their execution.
- Tools - including editors, Glade, Dev Help and so on.
- Developer documentation - generated API reference docs, hand-written tutorials and the developer centre website.
We are placing particular emphasis on GTK+ and establishing a GTK+ roadmap for this hackfest.
The central aim of this hackfest is to agree on an actionable plan for each area of the developer experience, including a GTK+ roadmap, a plan for tooling, and a design for an updated developer centre website.
Agenda
Specific items to address during the hackfest (feel free to add to the list):
JavaScript API reference documentation
Data model for GtkListBox and GtkFlowBox
- Review support for the next generation HIG - any toolkit blockers?
- developer.gnome.org
Venue
The venue for the event is the Endocode office, berlin: http://goo.gl/maps/2dKTS
Attend remotely
You can find some of us jumping in and out of IRC at #dev-x on irc.gimp.net.
Reports
Here we will link all the blog posts published during or after the hackfest, including information about the work done.
