1.2. Description
GTK+ hackfest that will take place along with Red Hat Developer Conference 2012 in Brno. Organized by Red Hat's Office in Brno and Red Hat Desktop Team. There will also be Doc Sprint simultaneously.
1.2.1. Venue
February 17 - 18: we will use small lecture room (20+ people) at the university
February 19 - 21: we will use "Tower Small" meeting room in Red Hat office (10-12 people max.) (TODO: post a picture)
Both places are relatively close to each other and to recommended hotels (see below).
1.2.2. Agenda, goals
Discussed on gtk-devel-list: http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gtk-devel-list/2011-November/msg00000.html
Possible topics:
a11y
- we may have some results of the earlier a11y hackfest to discuss
- focus handling - kill the focus tracker abominations in gail
- key snooping
clutter
- review what's happened on the clutter side, and plan next steps
- how to integrate actors with widgets
- Owen's clock proposal probably also fits in here
touch
- we hope to move the 'kinetic scrolling' patches before the hackfest, but there's plenty of other touch and input-related things to discuss - this topic would really benefit from Carlos' presence...
- capture-bubble event handling
- kinetic scrolling
- press-and-hold
- (multi-)touch events
- gestures
- make a list of widgets that need redesign to work with touch
platform support (in particular if we can get some of the Win32 and OS X people to attend)
- what platforms do we claim to support, and what does support mean
- can we improve builds / hosting
- move "platform API" from gtk to gio: icon theme cache and lookup
Review what is missing to deprecate GtkOSXApplication
roadmap
RFCs
- deprecate grabs
- provide alternative methods of doing some of the more common things
- method for automatically closing windows when they are clicked outside of
- provide alternative methods of doing some of the more common things
