Negroni is a very popular cocktail generally served before a meal. It is probably the most widespread cocktail in Milan: if you go having an "Aperitivo" (roughly, an Happy Hour where you get food), drinking a Negroni is the best way to blend with the locals.

It is very dry and bitter, therefore it does not appeal all tastes. But if you like it (like I do) you'll never be able to do without.

Negroni

This is a pretty easy cocktail:

  • 1/3 Gin
  • 1/3 Red Martini
  • 1/3 Campari Bitter
  • Ice
  • Sliced Oranges

Just mix the three liquid components in a low and fat glass (a Tumbler is perfect), add a couple of ice cubes and a slice of orange. Stir it and enjoy it.
