Draft: Pre-event Survey for GNOME.Asia 2011 Q1

E-survey system (free software)

To Whom

  1. GNOME release team
  2. GNOME docs team
  3. GNOME marketing team
  4. Others who will be involved with the actual mechanics of doing the launch
  5. companies - potential sponsors
  6. GNOME contributors living in Asia

Schedule

  1. An initial 1 on 1 discussion should take place first
    • - The leaders of the GNOME release and marketing teams

      - A few other important people in the community such as people like Owen Taylor, Vincent Untz, Jon McCann, Paul Cutler, etc.

  2. An initial release of the survey would be sent to the 10 people who we think would have the most important feedback.
  3. If we get good responses, adapt the survey to reflect any feedback we receive from the first round and widen it to the whole release and marketing team, etc.
  4. The survey will then also sent to:
    1. Others e.g. developers who will be involved with the actual mechanics of doing the launch
    2. companies - potential sponsors
    3. GNOME contributors living in Asia
    • The purpose of the initial discussion and 1st round survey is also to get some high profile GNOME people committed to join the event (if their response is positive), so it can help to attract others to join. Otherwise, we will adapt and adjust our plan.

Brief introduction

The GNOME.Asia committee would like to hear your opinions on our upcoming GNOME.Asia Summit.

We are considering holding the forth GNOME.Asia in March 2011 during the GNOME 3.0 release (Exact dates, city and venue still TBD.). The whole summit will include a 5-days private Hackfest and a 1-day open-to-public conference. Our objectives are to get together GNOME contributors to work on, promote and celebrate the GNOME 3.0 release as well as leverage on the GNOME 3.0 release to build a bigger GNOME community in Asia. We target to invite the GNOME release team, documentation team, marketing team and those contributors who will be involved with the actual mechanics of the GNOME 3.0 launch as well as those contributors living in Asia. Since you are within our target group, your feedback is highly appreciated.

(will Quote high profile GNOME guys who committed to join later)
