GNOME.Asia Summit 2011

This is the official Call for Paper for GNOME 3.0 Launch Party | GNOME.Asia Summit 2011.

For this forth edition of the GNOME.Asia Summit we will be hosting it just before the GNOME 3.0 release. The event will be held on April 2nd (Saturday) at the Dayananda Sagar Educational Institutions, Shivage Malleshwara Hills, Kumaraswamy Layout, Bangalore 560 078, Karnataka (India).

We are looking for speakers, panelists and exhibitors at the moment. It is important to highlight that GNOME.Asia Summit 2011 is matching the release of GNOME 3.0 and will be a great place to celebrate this launch. GNOME 3.0 is a big advance for GNOME bringing new desktop paradigms to facilitate users interaction with their computing world. Please join us to celebrate the launch of this major release together!

About GNOME.Asia Summit

GNOME.Asia Summit is an annual conference for GNOME users and developers in Asia. The event focuses primarily on the GNOME Desktop and other devices that use GNOME, and also covers GNOME-based applications and GNOME development platform tools. It brings together the GNOME community in Asia to provide a forum for users, developers, foundation leaders, governments and businesses to discuss both the present technologies and future developments. GNOME.Asia Summit has been held in Beijing, China in 2008, and Ho-Chi-Minh City, Vietnam in 2009 as well as Taipei, Taiwan in 2010.

Of course, you are free to submit anything that does not fit in those categories, provided that it is relevant to GNOME or for the GNOME community at large.

Talks will be scheduled for 1 hour (45 minutes talk and 15 minutes Q&A).

Submission Guidelines

Those proposing to present papers should fill this form by submitting an abstract (150 words) and a bio including the name and e-mail address of the author on or before February 18, 2011 (UTC 1800). If you have any question, please feel free to email the asia-summit-list(at)gnome(dot)org . The conference language is English. The abstracts will be reviewed by the program committee based on content, presentation and suitability for the event. By submitting an abstract you give us the permission to publish it on the conference web site.

The program committee is looking forward to your suggestions for participating in this year's exciting edition of GNOME.Asia Summit which will be held just before the GNOME 3.0 release.

Speaker Incentives and Financial Compensation

The GNOME.Asia summit is run by The GNOME.Asia Committee and The GNOME Foundation, which is a non-profit organization comprised of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director, the Advisory Board and the GNOME Memberships and enthusiasts of free and open-source software.

GNOME.Asia Summit is soliciting donations from companies and individuals towards this conference. These donations will be used both for running the conference and for bursaries for delegates from other continents. Delegates with an accepted paper will be prioritized in the distribution of these bursaries.

Please note that even if we can grant you a bursary, you will still be expected to pay a part of trip yourself, as well as your boarding and lodging.

Publication Rights

The conference requires non-exclusive, unrestricted publication rights to submitted presentations including the publication of audio and video recordings of the proceedings. Copyright is retained by the author. To ensure this, no speaker will be allowed to present without first signing a permission document, allowing us to use the material (slides, video and audio recordings of the presentation, supporting material, etc.) in a non-exclusive, unrestricted manner, preferably under a Creative Commons License.
