Most toolkits* have a low level API and a high level API for text layout. The high level API is used for GUI controls and simple text editing, while wordprocessors, page layout programs and similar use the low level API.

In this session ThomasZ will tell why KWord uses a low level API and what he'd expect from a usable API. AndreasVox will do the same for Scribus. This experiences should give some input for the UnifiedTextLayout session later.
