It is a world wide initiative for GNOME meet ups with lighting talk presentations and beers!
Rationale
- A "meetup" is awkward for people that are not yet involved in the community
- We fix this awkwardness with a lighting talk format: an ice breaker to know the topics and members of the community
Format
- 1 hour of lighting talks of 5, or 10, minutes each
- Lighting talks can be recordings from previous sessions (local or foreign)
- Topics are not restricted
- Monthly frequency
Possible options
- Skype or Google hangouts
YouTube channel for recordings
- Production of screencasts
Possible workflow
- Record video of the talk or screencast
- If it is a TALK: use gnome-subtitles to add subtitles
- If it is a SCREENCAST: record an audio with gnome-sound-recorder and replace the original video audio
- Download the $package-script
- Run the $package-script
- Upload it to $somewhere
