What we need for every event
Demo Plan
Label each monitor with a card at the top saying, for instance, "GNOME on fedora Linux"
- Should be a mix of standard GNOME stuff and new stuff.
Use the same default setup/theme/background on all computers.
Have suitable demo media (getting GNOME) to demonstrate, for instance, video playback.
Use some dynamic content such as small video windows or completely recorded desktop demos.
Talking points: (printed out, ideally on small cards)
What is GNOME? (See GnomeMarketing/TalkingPoints )
- How to welcome people, and how to start talking about GNOME.
- Would you like to see the latest and most usable GNOME desktop?
- Are you already a GNOME user? If not, how can we make you a GNOME user?
- Have you ever wondered what's special about GNOME?
- Would you like to know about the new features in the next version of GNOME?
- Have a list of the latest features in the latest stable and unstable branches.
- Where to find more information or get involved.
Scheduled events:
- Display times of GNOME talks happening at the venue.
- Let people know that a certain demo/activity will happen at a certain time?
- Scheduled visit by a well-known GNOME personality, who will answer questions.
- Usability test, to get people involved, and to show that we care.
- A translation demo.
- A mini-bugfix to see a coder at work, to demo bugzilla, cvs, diff, and patch.
- Even if these don't happen at the particular time, people ask questions about the subjects mentioned.
Planning Suggestions
- It would be good to have a plan for local teams before the show starts, like meet each other, have the most experienced person give a sample demo/talk, and make a list of who knows what areas best, so we can refer visitors to particular people.
Storage boxes:
See Events/GnomeEventsBox for thoughts on shipping, etc.
Hardware:
detailed list in Events/GnomeEventsBox
Posters:
- The Foot logo plus a slogan to hang behind or to the side of a table. (Slogan in the local language if possible.)
- Table-width banner to hang from front of the table.
- Banner for next GUADEC if appropriate/available.
Hand-outs/Collateral (in A4/US-Letter, depending on use)
- Getting involved explaining why a casual user would want to join/contribute to FOG
- Friends of GNOME, for people who want to contribute non-financially
- deployment, explaining why your business should install/use GNOME
- customizable brochure for the local community- information about joining GNOME.locale

- Bags
- Sell higher-quality bags.
- Possibly give-away many cheaper bags, to spread our brand around the event. (when that would have an impact.)
- T-Shirts
- Have a set for the Local Team, to give a professional image
- To sell, to attract people, and to spread the brand.
Live Media:
Explain what they are and how to use them. (See GnomeLiveMedia )
- Explain what to do next - how to install Linux/GNOME.
- Tell people verbally for greater impact, as well as giving the printed information.
Cash donations/sales

- Need receipt pad.
- Figure out balance between local group and gnome foundation- guidelines/rules.
People
- 2 or 3 people on an average-sized gratis stand.
