The Localization project saw a major restructuring of the coordination team, as well as individual translation teams. The coordination team was changed from being headed by just two spokespeople to being led by a larger team.

At GUADEC 2010, André Klapper represented the GNOME Translation Project and gave a talk “Identifying software projects and translation teams in need” which provided an overview of the data from Damned Lies, GNOME Bugzilla and other relevant sources.

Gil Forcada conducted the GNOME i18N Survey starting on August 13, 2010, and later presented the results on October 16, 2010 via the mailinglist. GTP language teams worked hard to provide l10n support for GNOME stable 2.32

2011 saw the localization & translation teams working hard to localize and translate GNOME 3. As a result of their hard work when GNOME 3.2 shipped it included 50 languages with at least 80% translation completed. There were two other major highlights of translation in 2011. One was the work that Priscilla Mahlangu did improving the Zulu translations from just 4% to 10% complete as an Outreach Program for Women intern. The other was the completion of the first official GIMP documentation translation thanks to Ignacio Ant.
