GNOME Ambassadors spread the word about GNOME and teach people the advantages of using a free desktop.

GNOME Ambassadors are GNOME fans who have agreed to help promote GNOME. They use their knowledge of GNOME and their public speaking skills or social networking skills or people skills to help promote GNOME. There is not a specific set of skills required to become a GNOME Ambassador, rather a willingness to work at promoting GNOME and to work at improving the GNOME outreach program in general. The Ambassador program provides resources such as funds for travel, business cards and GNOME presentations.

Welcome, GNOME Ambassadors!

Thank you for representing GNOME. We rely on GNOME Ambassadors like you to spread the word of GNOME and teach people the advantages of using a free desktop. On this page we provide some of the resources that we have made available to you. If you require something else - or think of something else that would be useful for the program - please feel free to suggest it.

In order to help you spread the word of GNOME, we have:

  • Business cards. A beautiful GNOME Ambassador business card can be found on GnomeAmbassadorsCard.

  • AmbassadorShirts. Link to Zazzle GNOME ambassador polo and t-shirts. A portion of the shirt cost will go to the GNOME Foundation. If purchasing the shirt is a financial hardship for you, the GNOME Foundation has a few they can give out. Please contact StormyPeters .

  • Travel sponsorships. If you are traveling to an event to represent GNOME, you can apply for travel sponsorship. We have a budget to help spread the word of GNOME. Please feel free to apply for sponsorship if you are talking about GNOME or running the GNOME booth at an event or potential sponsoring company.

For your presentations

  • Slides. On the presentations page you will find complete presentations as well as 5 minute segments you can combine into your own unique presentation. They are being completed with notes. We are also working on getting videos of people delivering these presentations. If your presentation is video taped, please add it to the wiki page. If possible, you should use our standard template when creating new presentations. Feel free to add them to the presentations page.

  • Demo. Giving a demo during a presentation is always stressful. In order to help we've created a demo environment ... [Need to develop].
  • Videos. Some times it helps to add a video demonstration to your presentation. This can help demo something or explain something by the expert, especially for specialized topics like accessibility. [Coming soon.]

For a GNOME booth

  • Events/GnomeEventsBox. We have a GNOME event box in Europe and the US. It has everything needed for setting up a GNOME booth: laptop, screen, banner, etc. You can request the event box on the wiki.

  • Brochures. If you are going to an event, you may want to print out brochures appropriate for your audience.
