Moderation Initiative

Faces of GNOME
- A portal to showcase all GNOME contributors
- Was part of GSoC 2021 - student Arijit successfully finished his milestones, some things still remaining to do
- feature complete.
* Can review website at the GitLab repository: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Teams/Engagement/websites/people-of-gnome
- Next phase will be auditing and determining next steps (changes to layout, features, content, etc.)
- After review we will forward to the Board to review.
- Does not offer translations, but would like to include it in the future.
Newcomers Page Initiative
- What if we revamp the newcomers page which is currently still on the wiki
- Information is missing from the wiki
Quick idea sketch from contributor: https://gnome.modular.im/_matrix/media/r0/download/envs.net/c5a0dae07ab75eca1f9c31955c0b275988d6fb0e
- Thoughts from newcommer, missing that one resource that has info on how to contribute on the thing you're interested in - gathered information by asking questions in chats, would be good to capture this personal knowledge in one place - also having wiki plus individual pages has been confusing as a newcomer, which do you contribute to?
* On GitLab we have an newcomer tag, but most people don't know this exists.
- Thoughts/questions:
- - How to we keep all these individual pages connected (faces, newcomers, developers, etc.) can they be connected to gnome.org or foundation.gnome.org or can the newcomer page be worked into the existing foundation.gnome.org somehow?
- Will this mean we will remove the wiki, or take it down? How will we update it?
- Will it be general and not need to be updated? Or will there need to be a team to maintain and update it.
- It does make sense to have a team of maintainers across all websites.
Partnership projects
- Should we create a new projec to gitlab for keeping track of partnership ideas and allow for reviews and coordination?
- Yes, let's do this.
**ACTION ITEM**:Caroline will create project under Engagement gitlab.
Annual Report
Has been completed, can be viewed at: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Teams/Engagement/AnnualReport/uploads/f66cb1302c634fb4ad8fe5646adc7268/2020AnnualReport-Digital.pdf
- Should start planning for next year - November.
- Need to work in a way to call for photos for the next report.
GSoC 2021
- Has been completed.
Many successful project with students: https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/organizations/5276176043474944/.
Social Media
- Do we need more contributors on the social team?
- Currently channels are run by only 2 people, yes we can use more contributors if people want to join, but we also need help with content.
What is really helpful is to have more people creating content or sharing content for social media by posting issues to: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Teams/Engagement/Social-Media-and-News.
If you have a blog coming out or know of community events or activities please share that information on GitLab so we can post it on our social channels.
