1) Follow up from marketing hackfest

Wiki page has all the action items in the hackfest.

* rebranding/marketing -

• 1) Talking about changing hte name marketing to something else - engagement, communication, outreach, promotion, and advocacy
  • Emily prefers engagement, outreach and advocacy
  • One propsoal is promotion and outreach
  • another propsoal - "moving and shaking"
  2) Allan has been working on the brand guidelines. Encourage to subscribe to the page and give feedback as it evolves:

  • Allan did some visual design work as well.
    • Hackfest was very helfpul in drafting the letter from the Executive Director in the annual report. Some links:

    Hopefully these efforts will covalese into good branding

3) Marketing GUADEC

• Schedule the marketing BOF on august 6th. Karen, Sri, and Andreas have advisory meeting on the 5th. Tiffany will be leaving mid day on the 6th.

5) Press release of "stop watching us" and tie it to our privacy campaign

• Might be worth writing, and make updates to it
• Get privacy statements out as well
  • Action: Karen will publish the privacy statement with a reference to our "stop watching us" campaign Sri and Emily to help as required.
  • We could create buzz by doing interviews with the developers working on privacy.
    • Might be hard because some of this stuff is in the future

6) Promotioanl video

• Bastian has released a mock up on the work, would like some feedback on
  • it before it goes into more forward.
• We have some of the old promtioanl videos that Jason has done. It would be great to have some replacement videos for the next release.
• maybe we can have a site like try.gnome.org where they can try GNOME
  • leads to a big problem we have for a long while. We do not have a way to try the latest release. Our software becomes available a month to 6 months later.
  • development images tend to be very unstable
• Have little talking heads at GUADEC?
  • main challenging is editing
  • In GNOME.asia they had a background screen, and they asked
    • questions that were regarded. Somequestions in guadec could be like "how did you get involve?"
    • we will need camera, background, and people who will volunteer
      • time to edit. Tiffany will offer to do the video and editing. Maybe someone local has equipment?

7) Promotion of GUADEC

• We are doing interviews with GUADEC keynoters, Favia is doing
  • the interviews and Karen is going to do the editing
• Report from GUADEC a lot of the cool things that are going on - we did a lot last guadec but none of it showed up in the normal channel.
  • proposal is to send a mail to foundatio-list, asking for volunteer to live microblog the keynotes.
  • ACTION: Allan to set up a wiki page and finding recruits to help promote keynotes, conference stuff, also recruiting people who have travel sponsorship is one idea.
