Annual Reports
- There wasn't a report in 2010, the board is hoping to combine 2010 into a new 2011 report
Paul Cutler took charge of the annual reports previously and Daniel Galeguillos was the designer (see https://live.gnome.org/DanielGalleguillos/GNOME_Annual_Report_Mockup)
- We do have quarterly reports for Q1 and Q2 of 2011
- Karen suggested organising a committee to take care of the report. Karen, Emily and Juanjo volunteered to help
The Mozilla annual report was cited as a potential source of inspiration - http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/foundation/annualreport/2010/
ACTION: Karen, Emily and Juanjo to get the annual report committee up and running.
ACTION: Karen and Emily are going to make a call for volenteers on the marketing list and on Karen's blog.
Campaigns
- We used to have two campaigns a year. One in the summer for a specific goal and one at the end of the year for Friends of GNOME.
- Stormy: 'one of the debates we had during the sys admin campaign was whether all the donations we received during that time frame should go to the sys admin or only donations above and beyond what we normally collected. I believe we said all donations.'
- There was a progress bar on gnome.org and regular reports made by blog post
- Previous campaign to hire a sysadmin was very successful. Several companies contributed to it and one did a matching contribution.
- Stormy used to lead with others pitching in
- a11y are keen to run a campaign
ACTION: Juanjo to contact the a11y team and see where their fund raising proposal is at and report back to the marketing list.
GNOME Journal
- Emily has copied all the articles from gnomejournal.org to thegnomejournal.wordpress.com
Next step is to migrate the content over to GNOME's servers - see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=646821
- We also need to organise the content production side of things
- Sumana and Paul used to be the editors
- New editions were produced about every 3 months - 2/3 a year
- Karen volunteered to do editing work
- Stormy - a thought on GNOME Journal - there are wordpress themes out there that give a magazine look and feel. We could gnome-ify one of them.
- Discussion around what the format of the GNOME Journal should be in the future:
- Want to make it easy for people to contribute
- Want to do a better job of keeping people informed about what's happening with GNOME
- Should the GNOME Journal be the place where regular news stories are produced, or something else? Should it be gnome.org, news.gnome.org, etc?
ACTION: Sri and Emily to follow up on the installation process
ACTION: Allan will write to the list with a summary of options for how we can organise our various news sites
Websites
- Foundation website needs porting over to the new gnome.org site or needs a new theme
- There are some scripts that are used on the foundation site for the membership list and application form
ACTION: Allan, Andreas and Andrea to talk to Vinicius about doing the scripts as Wordpress plugins
- Other outstanding website tasks - using the new visual style for git.gnome.org, live.gnome.org, mail.gnome.org
Outstanding items to discuss next time
- Encouraging new contributors
- Sponsorship/ recognizing funders
- Ways to recognize official merchandise vendors
