Notes
SCALE booth and downstream swag policy
ACTION: Write a policy around booths and downstream displays. The primary purpose of any booth is to promote GNOME, the desktop environment, and the project. As long as you do that, you can still have other downstream stuff, but the balance should be heavily in favor of GNOME. Showcase other tech as a way to show there is an ecosystem, but it shouldn't detract from the GNOME brand experience.
FOSDEM promotion and integration with Engagement team activities
Activities: there's a booth, lots of SWAG, there's a GNOME Beers event, newcomers workshop
- @Kat buys a lot of stuff with her own money, they sell it, any difference is donated to the GNOME foundation
ACTION: contact @Kat and see how we can help with social media and sharing designs
GUADEC dates promotion
- Need to make sure venue is secured before we announce dates
ACTION: check with the organizing team to see if they have a timeline in place
- Based on last year's timeline, we think the registration, CfP, etc, should happen around end of February at the latest
Annual Report
- We need to start it sooner. If possible within the next month
- aim for fnishing by March 2018
ACTION: need to find a project manager for this and also to identify the contributors
- - Michael has volunteered to help
ACTION: @Neil to email Michael/Emily to run through what's entailed
ACTION: @Neil to write a project brief about the new designed timeline
Promoting downstream releases
- We received feedback that it would be nice to promote downstream changes more often
Re: Ubuntu banner -- There is going to be another surge of people for an upcoming Ubuntu release, we were planning on using the banner again
- Do we have any stats on how successful the banner was?
ACTION: @Michael to see if there are stats on initial click through rate for the banner, try @Andrea and then Alexandre Franke, Andreas Nilson
- How can we acknowledge and promote when other downstreams do big things?
- social media promotion
Ask the community to asign a GitLab ticket for us
- retweet some of their stuff when releases come out with new versions of GNOME, maybe include a link to our release notes
- maybe work with the downstreams to showcase what has changed that's GNOME related in their distro
- social media promotion
Social Media
- Ideas for January
- Pippin's blog
- Recipes hackfest
- another Patreon
