Banshee supports MTP (such as Microsoft PlaysForSure), iPod, Rio Karma and Mass Storage player devices. When connected, the device is shown in the sidebar.

Tip: Support for devices is provided by Extensions. It may be necessary to enable the relevant extension in the Device Support section before the device can be used.

Media Formats

Banshee will automatically convert audio (only audio?) files to a format supported by the device if necessary when being transferred. The preferred format can be configured by right-clicking the device in the sidebar and choosing Device Properties.

Syncing Preferences

To set preferences for syncing media to a device, click on the device in the sidebar. There are 2 options for syncing:

• Manual (Default)
  • In this mode, individual media or playlists must be dragged from other sources onto the device in the sidebar. They will then be transferred immediately to the device.
• Automatic Syncing
  • The media on the device and the media in Banshee's library will be kept synchronised. Either the whole library or a specific playlist can be synchronised. The source of the syncing for each media source and be configured in the device's page.

Syncing Media

If Sync when first plugged in and when the libraries change is enabled, when the device is connected, any necessary transfers will take place immediately.

If not, click on the device in the sidebar. Then click on Sync to complete any necessary transfers.

If in Manual Managing is selected, drag media from another source onto the device in the sidebar to transfer it to the device.
