  • Releases dates and developer names

  • Lutris uses 300x113 banners user-contributed on their own website (sample page)

  • OpenEmu credits the OpenVGDB for "cover art and game data" (source). Boxarts are included as links to the GameFAQs website.

  • Playnite uses metadata plugins, notably IGDB and LaunchBox

  • Gamebrary is "powered by IGDB"
  • GOG Galaxy 2.0 (non-free) seems to use an internal database based on IGDB (source)

  • Recalbox (non-free) uses Screenscraper (also non-free)
