Defining a target group

We need to communicate to a specific group, or else our message won't interest anyone. Communicating to the right target group is the most important factor to acheive successful communication.

It is important that we:

  • Define who our target group is.
  • Learn who your target group are.
    • The better you know them, the easier it is for you to adapt the message, design, medium and content to them.

Example Subgroups which the promotional video's targets

  • Students
  • Office workers
  • Artists / Designers

Example subgroups the promotional video will not target..

  • Gamers
  • IT Administrators (at least not in the context of what a sysadmin does. He may also fall into the category of the above).
