1. When
- Date: Saturday 13th June 2020
- When: 15.00 UTC
2. Agenda
Review items from previous meeting
- Progress on app porting -- is it done yet ?
- How to manage app releases
- Will we break Flatpak apps on older distros? How can we avoid that?
- ...
3. Present
4. Minutes
- GNOME Photos
- WIP still
- Notifications for miner status
Needs to change for sandboxed apps, we hope to combine the IndexFile call with the notification. It will not be possible to call org.freedesktop.Tracker.Miner API directly from inside the sandbox.
- Online miners
- Need to run private endpoint
- Notifications for miner status
- WIP still
- libfolks
- contacts, geary and maps using evolution-data-server, but having issues due to its unstable D-Bus API
- the libfolks tracker backend is not a priority since it's unused, but let's try to update it rather than remove it in case apps later decide to move away from e-d-s
* Plan for release
- Apps will break when 3.38 is released on most distros, unless they packaged Tracker 3 already. We need to make this very clear in advance of it happening.
- PPA / COPR repos can solve this for LTS releases
- Sam to mail release-team and app maintainers, explain the situation, etc.
- Maintainers still largely unresponsive to our patches, and we are now only 6 weeks from freeze
GNOME Games:
- Jean has a WIP branch for tracker3
- mime types are important for Games. Soon we might not actually have mime type info in Tracker for content that we didn't extract
- a change in Tracker to mark content as being a game, and in need of extraction, would solve this
- this isn't trivial though. some game content is split into multiple files (Playstation for example),
- some are arbitrary .zip files (MAME games)
- Carlos will look into what we can do
- this isn't trivial though. some game content is split into multiple files (Playstation for example),
Jean will add nmm:artist support to GStreamer extractor, after ontology change was merged.
GNOME Music
- No reply from Grilo maintainers about tracker3 branch yet.
- Jean will contact Victor about this
