We discussed on IRC whether Straw should be part of the official GNOME Desktop. Already, Straw is a feed reader for the GNOME desktop, but it would benefit from more integration with the desktop and the community. Further, as a part of GNOME Desktop, more people would be exposed to it as a solution to feed reading.

The challenges are in meeting the GNOME standards for official modules, and showing that Straw is important enough to belong in the limited scope of GNOME Desktop. Being written in Python doesn't seem to be an issue anymore. Meanwhile, the solutions to feed reading have grown from simple desktop feed readers, and although Straw can easily evolve with Python and a good architecture, it has been lagging behind times.
