Progress Towards 3.12
- Piñeiro is writing an email about some API changes needed on ATK in order to support better more that one toolkit.
This is needed because right now, gnome-shell is not accessible under wayland, because gtk AtkUtil implementation is overriding clutter AtkUtil implementation.
Additionally, Piñeiro has been working on some AtkDocument stuff and implementing it on evince, as part of improving accessibility of pdf documents.
- Poppler patches are also being reviewed/approved these days, so poppler master has a better tagged-pdf support.
In the same way, as Piñeiro is in writing-email mode today, he will send a ping to the wayland+accessibiilty thread probably suggesting about moving some of the current bugs to wayland, gnome-shell or <relevant-component> bugzilla.
- Joanie is still working on the focus: deprecation stuff.
- Joanie is also investigating various and sundry Firefox 25 accessibility regressions. :-/
- Piñeiro also replied to the email that Mike sent about the new at-spi2 API, specifically about events with more info, and some async API.
- Mike has done some work on an async api and emailed g-a-devel (to which Piñeiro just alluded)
- The gnome-shell project has added a new component for tracking the magnfier.
- All gs-mag bugs have been moved to this new component ("component" in the sense of a bugzilla component).
W3C Updates
- The ARIA working group received comments on the UAIG last call draft from the gnome-a11y community.
- A small sub-group worked on responsese to those comments.
- Those responses have been pushed to the full group requesting group consensus.
- In addition, we are trying to find a compromise to somehow include the requested changes given W3C protocol.
- All this is intended to be wrapped up by end of day Friday (tommorrow).
- Igalia has become a W3C member recently, one of the reasons behind, is stuff like this "lets collaborate for accessibility"
Marketing Updates
Following Jon W. McCann's request, Juanjo's been moving content from: https://projects.gnome.org/accessibility/ and https://projects.gnome.org/orca/ to https://wiki.gnome.org/Accessibility/ and https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/Orca respectively.
Miscellaneous Time
There is a WebKitGtk hackfest this week at Igalia.
- One target area is accessibility.
