And there was much rejoicing. 15:33:33 clown at the moment my a11y test rig is still built on javier's a11y testing distro but if we decide on another it could be ported. 15:33:59 bnitz, that was OpenSuse, if I recal. 15:34:02 yes 15:34:02 "recall" 15:34:23 I haven't tried that, but I should work. 15:34:28 * clown looks up url. 15:34:30 clown did you need to emulate 3d acceleration or does gnome-shell now run smoothly without it? 15:35:00 #info how to add accelerated 3d support to VirtualBox: http://www.sysprobs.com/install-fedora-16-virtualbox-guest-additions-get-working-gnome-shell-inside-virtual-machine 15:35:52 clown thanks. The next step is to completely remove the requirement for accelerated 3D. For some reason I thought it was no longer a hard dependency on clutter/gnome-shell. 15:35:57 bnitz, I had to follow the above directions, involving using something called "Guest Additions" to allow access to the 3d support on one's video card. 15:36:16 I didn't follow those instructions, but I did the same thing. 15:36:42 #info Installing Guest Additions is required to get the 3d support working (which is required to get gnome-shell working in vbox). 15:36:55 Yes I did something like this in the past but decided to fallback on fallback mode for now. 15:37:28 But I think when the hard dependency on 3d graphics goes away, fallback mode will also be deprecated. 15:37:39 yes, I tried this before last spring, and got very jerky mouse movements, etc. 15:37:58 I think part of the improvement is due to the newer versions of Virtual Box. 15:38:07 * joanie nods 15:38:40 clown: I'm in conversation with an instructor who is using gnome-shell zoom with a user with Ataxia and they think is great :-) 15:38:53 #info version 4.16 of VirtualBox is a version that works. 15:39:12 jjmarin, thanks for that! 15:39:37 jjmarin: will they be part of the a11y testamonials for the marketing? 15:40:20 clown: I want to, but there is some bureacratic problems I need to fix 15:40:47 jjmarin: good luck with that. 15:40:54 ;-) 15:40:56 :-) 15:42:48 okay, anything else? 15:44:12 no 15:44:14 #endmeeting
