Topics

GNOME 3 Updates

Discussion

  • Joanie is working on the issue of Orca not quitting when the screen reader is disabled via the UAP.
  • Colin and Mike fixed the reported race condition in AT-SPI2.
  • Piñeiro indicated that team members have been having problems with Accerciser and wants to update its "risk level" on the 3.0 status page. Brian agreed.
  • Brian reported that GNOME 3 does not work well in a VM and asked if fallback mode will stick around and also if it was meant to be accessible. Piñeiro responded that fallback mode in theory addresses two issues: lack of 3D support and accessibility (until gnome-shell accessibility issues are resolved). As a result, the team should be testing fallback mode.

Conclusions

  • Increase the "risk level" for Accerciser.
  • Team members need to report bugs rather than simply pinging each other.
  • Team members need to test fallback mode.

The Status Page

Discussion

  • Piñeiro reminded the team to update this page, adding that this page will help us track issues in GNOME 3.2.
  • Joanie proposed that a subcommittee be formed which would spend an hour or so updating the status page, as there are quite a few sections that people are simply failing to update (e.g. CSPI, libgail-gnome, etc.)
  • Joseph supported this idea.
  • Piñeiro was concerned that the subcommittee members might not know what the status is/should be.
  • Joanie agreed to keep pinging people for updates.

Conclusions

  • Team members need to update their section(s) of the status page.
  • Joanie will continue to ping team members for their status updates.

A11y Testing Distro

Discussion

  • Joseph was able to make a bootable USB from the Try It! page but not from the A11y Testing Distro. He wants to be sure his new magnification preferences dialog works.

  • Javi reported experiencing crashes when he tried, but that burning a CD works.
  • Brian reported that the testing distro works in virtualbox.
  • Joseph mentioned that Peter thinks the testing distro is a good idea.

Conclusions

  • Javi will make sure the next spin is bootable via USB.
  • Javi will include Joseph's magnification preferences dialog.

New Team Calendar

Discussion

  • Joanie created a subscribe-able calendar for the team, which currently contains the meeting times and the ATK Hackfest.

  • Joseph tried the calendar and declared that it worked.

Conclusions

  • Joanie will add a link to the meetings page.

Action Item Updates

Discussion

  • Joanie stated that AI's are getting out of control. Piñeiro pointed out that some were already solved. Joanie responded that it would be helpful for team members with completed AI's could remove them from the list.
  • Piñeiro reminded the team to write their Q4's, adding that it was nearly time for Q1's.

Conclusions

  • (None)

Miscellaneous Time

Discussion

  • Piñeiro mentioned Bryen's request for "new" and "cool" things about GNOME 3, and suggested we create a page and/or do release notes. Joanie pointed out that release notes typically get added to the Release Notes page.

  • Piñeiro suggested we could/should also update our project page.

  • Javi and Brian are each having problems with "missing" items when using Accerciser in the a11y testing distro, in particular Accerciser only sees itself. Piñeiro asked if there were two registries running. Javi confirmed their were.

Conclusions

  • Javi will ensure that only AT-SPI2 goes on the next distro spin.
