Topics Discussed

Documentation

Discussion

  • Docs which are up-to-date (or getting there) and in Mallard: Orca, Dots, and OCRFeeder.
  • Docs whose status is unknown: Accerciser and GNOME Shell Mag
  • We still do not know what the plans are with respect to the developer docs.

Conclusions

  • Joanie will ping Brian Nitz and Joseph re their docs.
  • Joanie will ping Shaun about plans for developer docs

AT-SPI/Atk API Changes Proposed

Discussion

  • Piñeiro thinks that we should create an at-spi2 component so that people can report bugs. Mike said that he would look into doing this.
  • Fer stated that he would open bugs for the proposed changes, but questioned if the changes were worth it. Joanie responded that having the additional and correct information was indeed worth it.
  • Piñeiro added that we should have a metabug for this work and perhaps should also convert the list from our roadmap to bugzilla bugs. He volunteered to do this, proposing "towards ATK 2.0" as the title.

Conclusions

  • Mike will look into getting an AT-SPI2 component added in GNOME's bugzilla.
  • Fer will open the appropriate bugs for the AT-SPI/Atk API changes he is proposing.
  • Piñeiro will create the Atk metabug and begin converting the list to bugzilla bugs.

Upcoming Events

Discussion

  • CSUN
    • Fer reported that he may go, but doesn't know yet.
    • Steve reported that he is unlikely to go.
    • Joanie stated that if she goes, she'll fly out, do the panel presentation, and fly back.
    • Piñeiro also does not believe he's going.
  • Proposed Atk Hackfest
    • There has not been much response to the internal mailing for this event.
    • Piñeiro has a schedule conflict with the week of 11 April.
    • No one had strong preferences for a replacement week.
    • Piñeiro suggested we ask the group for dates that will work for them, adding that we should also determine how many people we consider the minimum number for the hackfest to go on.
    • Joanie responded that it is not a number thing and that some people (e.g. Mike) are essential, independent of the numbers.
    • Joanie proposed that she and Piñeiro come up with a new proposed date and propose it to the group, and consider the numbers issue later.
    • Piñeiro suggested we come up with two possible weeks and ping the group after all of the holidays are over.
    • The group agreed.

Conclusions

  • (No conclusions with respect to CSUN.)
  • Joanie and Piñeiro will come up with two possible weeks and ping the group after all of the holidays are over.

GNOME 3.0

Discussion

  • GtkTreeview refactoring:

    • Piñeiro did not get a response from Li yet about the gtktreeview refactoring and reminded us all to test gailtreeview if at all possible.
    • Joanie asked if anyone happened to know if the new gtktreeview had been incorporated into Ubuntu Natty yet as she was seeing very sluggish performance. No one else knew.
  • Status of the migration to PyGObject: GNOME Goal, 626218Status of the migration to PyGObject: GNOME Goal, 626218
    • Joanie reported that it is still on the Orca team's to-do list.
    • Fer asked if it should be a low-priority task, adding the question if we don't manage to port all the modules would things still work.
    • Piñeiro responded that when PyGI becomes fully stable, pygtk would be deprecated.
    • Mike stated that pygi will only be usable with GTK 3, and one would keep using pygtk for gtk 2.
  • Testing in GNOME 3.0.
    • Fer reminded the group that we should all be working and testing in GNOME 3.0.

Conclusions

  • The team should test gailtreeview

Project:Possibility

Discussion

  • Steve reported that Project:Possibility organizes SS12 competitions to get students working on open source accessibility over a weekend (in February/March). Last year there were 2 teams working on Caribou and Steve would like to do so again this year. He has asked Bryen to join one of their board meetings to come up with ideas.

  • Piñeiro reported that our "Small Tasks" list has become outdated (e.g. "Add a scanning mode to Caribou.")

  • Steve asked about the possibility of a project to enhance the new scanning support in Caribou.
  • Piñeiro suggested that working on Accerciser bugs or developing new plugins might be a good project, adding that at the moment Accerciser doesn't work.

Conclusions

  • The team should review the "Small Tasks" list.

  • Steve will email the list reminding them about these issues.
