Tuesday, 5 Oct: Documentation Day!

Help create better user help for accessibility features in GNOME. We will focus on topic-oriented help, rather than large manuals. The documentation team has a very difficult time planning and writing good accessibility help, because they are not familiar with the tools and the needs of users. Rough schedule:

  • 10:00 Documentation day!
  • Introduction to topic-oriented help and Mallard (2 hours)
  • Collaborative planning session (2 hours)
    • This is how we map out help content. After a planning session, individual topics can be handled by separate people.
  • Guided individual writing (2 hours)
    • People write and revise topics and ask others for reviews. Shaun will answer questions, do reviews, and offer assistance.
  • Replanning session (1 hour)
    • After writing and editing, you often find the initial plan needs revision. We'll come back together for another collaborative planning session.
  • Write more, time permitting.
  • Tele-center visit
    • Departure time: around 6.40pm.
    • Departure place: Hackfest area
